Hotmilk was the dancehall party I organised, made artwork for, and was a resident DJ at, for almost 10 years.
Jamaican music, and it’s effect on the UK sound-system circuit and rave scene, is one of my earliest influences. I've been collecting records for as long as I can remember: from rocksteady to ragga, bashment back to bluebeat.
The Hotmilk sessions took place at dive bars and dank basements of various shapes and sizes in my home town of Manchester. Big sound-systems, very little light, people dressed to sweat — a party for dancing, not standing around and gazing.
